Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Captures Wanted Fugitive

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has released the
following:
On the morning of Wednesday October 23, 2019, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office
received an anonymous tip in reference to the whereabouts of Damien Williams.
Investigations Division and Patrol Division teamed up and immediately responded to the
call. Captain Dwayne Ledoux (Chief of Patrol) discovered a male subject fitting the
description given by the anonymous caller of Damien Williams on a blue bike near the
intersection of Reed and Wilson Street in Ville Platte. Williams was wanted by the
Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for several Outstanding Warrants After a positive
identification was made Investigators and the wanted subject ensued in a foot pursuit.
Shortly after, Williams was located beneath an abandoned storage shed. He was ordered
by Investigators on scene to exit from beneath the shed in which he complied after
several verbal commands. Williams was peacefully detained and taken into custody. He
was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he was charged with Theft of a
Motor Vehicle, Criminal Trespassing, Simple Battery and Resisting an Officer.
Williams was also wanted by Louisiana State Probation and Parole Ville Platte District
along with the Mamou Police Department for pending charges. Williams total bond
amount is set at $285,000.00.
