Evangeline Parish sees minor storm damage Wednesday

Evangeline Parish experienced minor storm damage following gusts of rain, wind and tornados, which struck central Louisiana Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
While all of Evangeline Parish experienced the storm’s rain and wind, the northern portion of the parish felt the affects of the storm the most. A possible tornado was even reported in the area just north of Turkey Creek Thursday morning around 12:30 a.m. However, no serious damage was reported. It was also reported wind gusts reached 70 to 80 miles per hour between the Pine Prairie and Clear water areas.
Near the Evangeline and Allen Parish line, strong winds also ripped through a utility pole that forced La. Hwy. 10 to close near the Beaver Road.
Other areas surrounding Evangeline Parish that experienced large amounts of storm damage were Rapides and Grant Parishes. A total of seven tornadoes were recorded in the two parishes just north of Evangeline Parish.
In Alexandria, the storm caused damage to the bowling alley as well as damage around the Alexandria Mall, while in Pineville the storm tore down massive pine trees throughout the Louisiana College campus.
CLECO reported at around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 1st, there were a total of 82 customers without power in Evangeline Parish due to the storm.
