March 7, 2018: Deputies working a criminal patrol detail in the Oakdale area stopped a vehicle on La. Hwy 10 East for an improper display of license plate violation. The stop was made at the intersection of La Hwy 10 East and Irene Street.
While speaking with the driver about the violation, the deputy noticed an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The vehicle had five occupants including a minor female child.
The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detection Canine alerted on the vehicle indicating the presence of the odor of illegal narcotics. A search of the vehicle uncovered synthetic marijuana, crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia seized from the driver seat area. Crystal meth and drug paraphernalia were also found in a purse and the back seat area.
The driver Cleveland C. Jagneaux, 25, from Ville Platte and back seat passengers, Brandon M. Deshotel, 23, of Ville Platte and Heidi A. Brignac, 20, of Ville Platte were arrested. Deputies noticed that Brignac appeared to have an object concealed on her person.
All three were transported to the Allen Parish Jail. A female jailer removed more than 40 grams of crystal meth which was seized as evidence from Brignac’s person.
Jagneaux was charged with: improper display of plates, possession of crystal meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal conspiracy and child endangerment.
Dehotel was charged with: criminal conspiracy, possession of crystal meth and child endangerment.
Brignac was charged with: criminal conspiracy, possession of crystal meth, drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.
