The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office released an update on a matter that occurred on May 14, 2018, where a man was found dead in a ditch in the Mamou area.
The deceased man was previously identified by the EPSO as Charles N. Reed, of Mamou. His cause of death, according to the EPSO, “has still not been determined and autopsy results are still pending.”
In the update on Wednesday, the EPSO shared that two subjects, which the sheriff’s office was in search of, “were located and freely surrendered themselves for questioning.”
Those individuals were Shannon J. Ardoin and Regina L. Grant.
According to a press release from the EPSO, “both parties submitted written statements in reference to their knowledge of the death that occurred on Jake Lane.” The release went on to state that “neither subject was charged and were immediately released after questioning.”
In the release, the EPSO also shared that “since the investigation began on May 14, 2018, only one arrest has been made and is not connected with the death.”
Instead, an individual by the name of Jerome R. Ardoin, was arrested at the scene on Jake Lane and charged with possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance.
At this time, Jerome remains incarcerated on a $10,000.00 bond.
In its release, the EPSO also thanked the public for their assistance in locating Shannon and Grant for questioning.
