Prior to Tuesday’s board meeting, the Evangeline Parish Fire District No. 2 received a letter from the City of Ville Platte stating the following:
“The Evangeline Parish Fire District #2 Board is currently reimbursing the City of Ville Platte $18,571.60 per month for salaries and fringe benefits for firefighters pay, effective January 2019. Due to changes in workers compensation and retirement as of July 2019, the new amount owed per month is $19,200.61, which includes salaries and fringe benefits.”
The board voted to pay the difference to the city.
The board then discussed options for a proposed new tanker for the Faubourg Fire Station.
After a lengthy discussion on the issue, the board voted to authorize Chairman Danny McDaniel to sign a purchase agreement with Ferrara for the new tanker.
The board also voted to advertise for bids a 2000 1500 GPM pumper for a minimum price of $65,000.00 and to advertise to sell a 2004 3500-gallon tanker for a minimum of $45,000.00. The bids will be opened at the board’s meeting on Tuesday, September 10.
In other business, the board approved to fix units and a sub pump that were affected by lightening recently striking the Belaire Cove Fire Station.
