Early voting kicks off for Dec. 8 election

Early voting for the December runoff elections began Saturday, November 24, and voters have been trickling into the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters office.
As of Wednesday morning, after the first three days of early voting, a total of 255 early voters had cast their vote.
A break down of how many people have voted in person in each ward is as follows: Ward 1 (Ville Platte, Chataignier), 110; Ward 2 (Basile), 6; Ward 3 (Mamou), 112; Ward 4 (Pine Prairie, Beaver), 13; and Ward 5 (Turkey Creek, Bayou Chicot), 14.
Runoff elections taking place consist of Chief of Police in Mamou between incumbent Brent Zackery and challenger Charles Perdices and state Secretary of State between incumbent Kyle Ardoin and challenger Gwen Collins-Greenup.
Early voting at the Registrar of Voters office continues until Saturday, December 1. Voters wishing to vote on election day will head to the polls to cast their ballots on Saturday, December 8.
