Early voting to begin March 16 for road tax in Pine Prairie

Early voting for a new sales tax in Pine Prairie begins Saturday, March 16, and runs through Saturday, March 23. Election day for the proposition is set for Saturday, March 30.
Pine Prairie Mayor Quint West previously explained the tax is the same two percent sales tax which has been on the books for the past two decades even though this month’s ballot item will read as a new tax.
The tax, which was originally approved in October 1997, is dedicated for the purpose of construction, maintenance, and repair of public streets and roadways within the village.
