Dustin Sonnier and his band will take the stage on Saturday night, April 7, from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at this year’s Boggy Bayou Festival. Opening for Ashton Dupre and the Last Call Band, Dustin is looking forward to entertaining festival-goers with his country tunes. They have done several shows before and both agree this one will be great.
The American country music singer/songwriter is from the small community of Vatican, Louisiana. His passion for music began at a young age. “Growing up we listened to Keith Whitley and George Jones until my Dad went to work. Then, my mom, a rocker at heart, introduced me to Ozzy, Van Halen, and Marshall Tucker,” he recalls.
Upon entering high school, Dustin quickly realized, “Girls are drawn to guys in the band.” So, at the age of 13, he picked up a guitar and joined a Christian country band. He spent the next few years learning to hone his vocal and songwriting abilities.
In 2006, he felt the need to spread his wings and formed his own band.
He quickly became a success in the local honky-tonk scene, playing almost seven nights a week for several years.
The year 2016 brought the release of his first major recording project. The six-song EP, “Country,” comes stacked with three songs penned by Dustin.
That same year, his single, “Whiskey Makes Her Miss Me,” debuted and continues to climb the charts.
Plan to attend Dustin Sonnier’s show at the festival and stick around for Ashton Dupre and the Last Call Band, which follows.
