Cora Chretien-Veal has announced her bid for Evangeline Parish Police Juror, District 6. Her announcement is as follows:
“I, Cora Chretien-Veal wish to announce my candidacy for Evangeline Parish Police Juror, District 6 for the October 12, 2019 upcoming election.
“I am a native of the Pine Clair community in Evangeline Parish. I graduated from high school at Vidrine High School. I earned my Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy from LSU-Eunice, my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Chicago State University, Chicago, Illinois, and my Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Independence University.
“I am the daughter of Hazel Chretien and the late Leroy Chretien. I am the fifth child of 10 children, seven of whom graduated from Vidrine High School, and three of whom graduated from Joseph Celestine High School in Mamou. All of my brothers and sisters obtained college degrees or certifications in a variety of professions. I am the mother of six children and grandmother of five. Four of my children have their college degrees. One son is currently in his senior year for an Electrical Engineering degree and one adopted daughter is in high school.
“I grew up on a farm in a large family therefore I have a great understanding of the value of the dollar. I also learned that working together as a team can accomplish positive outcomes. I have pure compassion for the needs of the people of our community. I understand that proper drainage, sanitation, roadways, education, legal issues and funding are very important for the success of farmers and municipalities.
“I retired from the medical field after 40 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. For most of my career, I was in management positions. I worked at some of the most prestigious hospitals holding important positions. I am a strong leader and I believe in working with the people to accomplish our goals. I managed people, taught people, prepared budgets, wrote procedure manuals, and saved lives throughout my career. I am currently managing St. Francis Center and food bank as lead volunteer for St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou, Louisiana.
“I would like to share my experience and my passion with the people of Evangeline Parish to make our parish and our District 6 the top of the line in all areas.”
