Renee Brown, director of the Evangeline Parish Chamber of Commerce, told the Ville Platte Rotary Club Tuesday that her organization is planning a parishwide yard sale which will be September 27 and 28.
“Whether you live on L’Anse Meg Road and want to do a yard sale at your house or if you’re a business that is trying to get rid of some inventory from the summer or start promoting your fall inventory,” Brown said, “we’re going to be promoting this yard sale.”
As Brown explained, those wishing to participate “will register with the Chamber of Commerce.” She added, “That’s where we will collect some funds, and we will utilize those funds for the map that we will be using online. We’re also going to use the funds to advertise in Pineville, Alexandria, Lafayette, and around the area because we’re trying to bring in some new dollars.”
Brown went on to explain this event can also help churches and other non-profit organizations. As she said, “This is a perfect opportunity for churches or non-profits to set up in the parking lot of a business or on Main Street and actually do their own yard sale at their own discretion.”
The benefit of this event, as Brown said, is “just to have people moving, eating, drinking, and shopping in businesses around our parish with our residents and non-profits.”
The planning committee for the event will begin meeting today at 5 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office. Anyone wishing to help is welcome.
