Kim Deville, Evangeline Parish assistant extension agent, announced the upcoming “Clean out Your Freezer Day” for Hunters for the Hungry. She said, “Jacob Fontenot, shooting sports coordinator, wanted a project and came across this event. It was something we could do in the hope that little hunters would value where they’re making a difference.”
Hunters for the Hungry is a state-wide philanthropy. It is a nonprofit organization that has been working for over 20 years with hunters and fishermen throughout the state of Louisiana to make a difference in the lives of neighbors by sharing their bounty of wild game and fish in order to combat hunger.
The Clean out Your Freezer day is Sunday, September 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All food donations must be properly packaged, labeled, and dated. Drop off is the Evangeline Parish 4-H office at 230 Court St., Ville Platte, LA 70586. For more information, visit cleanoutyourfreezer.com
