Beginning on September 3, history will be made as the first tent revival in recent memory will be held on the corner of Walnut and La. Hwy 13 next to CC Fitness in Pine Prairie.
The event is sponsored by Christian Tabernacle and runs through Sunday, September 8.
According to the church’s pastor, Barry Gautreaux, the revival will be conducted by David Boggs and his family from Waynesville, Ohio. “They’ve been in the ministry about 30 years and are active in tent revivals all over the United States,” Gautreaux said.
Gautreaux then went through a schedule for each night of the revival.
“It’s going to start off with a couple songs, then I’ll come up and greet the church,” Gautreaux said. “We’ll then have a special song by the church, and the Boggs Family will sing a couple more songs. Then, Brother Boggs will preach the Gospel.”
“It’s 90-percent that he’ll be preaching to the lost and the hurting,” Gautreaux continued. “Then there will be prayer for the sick and everyone who wants to come up needing prayer or a miracle.”
Gautreaux further said no offerings will be taken up because everything is sponsored through his church, and there will be free water available every night.
For Christian Tabernacle, Gautreaux said the tent revival is big. “The Bible says if you gain the whole world but lose your soul then what profit is it,” he said. “Christ put the price of one soul to the whole world, so what would the whole world be worth?”
Gautreaux continued, “Christ said one soul is worth more than all of that. If one soul is reached, then the angels in Heaven rejoice. The revival is big and bigger than we sometimes think it is because one soul could be saved.”
All are invited to the tent revival regardless of denomination and regardless if a person is saved or lost.
Gautreaux said, “We just like to invite people to come out. We would like for people to come and receive Jesus as their Lord and savior and to rededicate their lives to Christ. If they want to pray, we want to pray with them. And, we want them to be blessed and receive something from the Lord.”
He concluded by sharing a verse from Paul’s First Letter to Timothy, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” 1 Timothy 1:15 KJV
