Candidate announcement

I, Kevin Lafleur, am pleased to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Ville Platte. I was an ordinary working class citizen, trying to provide and live a good life as a welder. Unfortunately in 2010, my career came to a halt. My lungs were permanently damaged due to chemical exposure. I have not gotten any help from anyone or any program that was in place for a working class citizen. And ultimately, what has happened to me has a big part in my decision to run for Mayor in my hometown.
I graduated at the age of 17, and a week before my 18th birthday, I was working as a welder in a shipyard. I know first hand the difference it makes in a young person’s life, to have good teachers, instructors and role models. To encourage them and let them know that someone cares and believes in them, makes all the difference. One of my goals is to work closely with the school board members, teachers and students to give them the best possible chance.
I have many plans to make this town even better. I ask that the people have confidence in me to make it fair for everyone, and to work on a new beginning. All children deserve to have the skills and opportunities they need to be successful and have a better future.
The choices we make today affect what they will have tomorrow. Let’s make better choices and do what is right, for them. People underestimate what they can accomplish if they just stand together. We are all trying to live our lives the best that we can.
We all deserve a fair chance, no matter what we have or where we come from. We are the same. I know it is possible. Together we can do anything. Love is the key.
If elected, I will always be there for the citizens of Ville Platte when they have a problem, a concern, an idea or would just like to say hello. The beginning of Equality, Peace, and Prosperity for all. We can do it, together.
Please vote Kevin Lafleur, #56, for Mayor of Ville Platte on November 6th.
