I would like to take this time to introduce myself as a candidate for member of the Evangeline Parish School Board, District 10.
My name is Maggie Pitre Ortego and I am married to Brent Ortego. I have lived in Evangeline Parish my entire life.
I am a 1974 graduate of Evangeline Academy and attended T.H. Harris Vocational/Technical School. In 2012, I earned an accredited certification as a Professional of Human Resources through the HR Certification Institute.
Promoting education has always been important to me. For the past few years, I have been part of a team presenting CHOICES workshops to students throughout our parish. These interactive workshops give students an understanding of the importance of education and its impact on quality of life in their future.
Through serving as judge for Teacher of the Year, I have listened closely to stories of brilliant creativity used in classrooms to educate our children and grandchildren. This has provided me great insight into the hard work and commitment of these amazing educators.
My 30 year career in Human Resources has provided me with experience and skills to work in strong collaboration with members of our school board.
Given the opportunity, I would be humbled to serve with integrity and work towards exceeding goals for overall academic achievement in Evangeline Parish.
