I am honored to take this opportunity to introduce myself as a candidate for Ville Platte District D City Councilman. While some of you may know me as “Blood’s” nephew, and many as “Shanky,” I am Vashanski Thomas the proud son of Edith Faye Thomas. As a life long resident of Ville Platte, a graduate of Ville Platte High School, and a proud parent of a college student, I am enthusiastic about the future of Vile Platte.
My years of employment with the Evangeline Parish School System has afforded me the opportunity to process and manage the oversight of millions of dollars of inventory. In this capacity, the knowledge, experience, and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines have allowed me to gain an appreciation of the complexity of government. Furthermore, I had the pleasure of fulfilling the unexpired term of police juror, Ronald T. Doucet, which allowed me more experience in the workings of government affairs. Prior to that great experience, I had the pleasure of serving as a charter member of the “Father’s for Better Youth Organization.” All the while, I invested my time and energy into the development of youth coaching EPYB sports.
I look forward to working closely with our mayor and council to continue the great work that they are doing.
I look forward to the completion of the current street, drainage, and sewer projects. Upon the completion of these projects, we will be able to continue improvements through sound fiscal management and grant opportunities. In doing so, I hope to increase employment opportunities for the residents of our town so that my child and yours may return home to live and prosper as we have in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Your support is greatly appreciated. On Nov. 6 Vote #99. Thank you and may God bless
