Two separate arrests have been made after recent cooperation between the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s office and St. Landry Parish authorities.
The first instance came when a suspect, Daniel Breaux, was arrested for theft of motor vehicles, and the other came when a juvenile was arrested after a high speed chase.
Regarding the theft of motor vehicles, Sheriff Eddie Soileau issued the following press release.
“On Monday, October 21, 2019 Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigator Detective Tyla Godeaux was actively investigating recently reported ATV/4-wheeler thefts when he learned one of his persons of interest was wanted by the Eunice Police Department from an anonymous caller.”
“After verification, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigations along with Patrol Divisions teamed up with several Eunice Police Officers and executed a search warrant for the body of Daniel Breaux, and any ATV/4-wheelers reported stolen on property.”
“The search warrant returned the body of one Daniel Breaux for Eunice Police Department. After a thorough search of the property there were no stolen items located.”
As for the high speed chase, Sheriff Soileau issued the following press release.
“On October 27, at approximately 4:11 p.m., Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Kalinsky Ardoin joined in a vehicle pursuit already in progress with St Landry Parish Deputies on Highway 1168 (Belaire Cove Road) south of Deballion Plantation Road. The fleeing vehicle (a stolen 4-wheeler), occupied by a subject wearing dark colored clothing and a brown facemask traveled into Evangeline Parish from St Landry Parish to the Belaire Cove Road attempting to elude deputies at a rate of speed of 40 mph.”
“The chase ended on the Belaire Cove Road after a minor collision with an Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Unit. The pursuit came to a halt on the 800 block of Belaire Cove Road between Gabrielle Road and Jaco Lane. The driver of the 4-wheeler was identified as a 16-year-old black male juvenile from Opelousas. He was apprehended safely and detained without further incident.”
“The 16-year-old black male juvenile was taken into the custody by the St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and transported to a Juvenile Center after being evaluated by the Acadian Ambulance Medical Staff for injuries.”
“Following the pursuit after further investigations, two additional stolen 4-wheelers were able to be recovered from out of St Landry Parish and released back to the deputies on scene.”
