This past weekend Evangeline Parish Deputies were out on patrol looking for Seat
Belt and other violations. The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission awarded the
Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department a Grant to conduct this specialized detail.
Deputies were out in force to ensure the safety of the citizens of Evangeline Parish.
During this detail Deputies encountered 57 vehicles with 74 violations. There were
over one hundred people encountered during this patrol. Citations were issued
for the following: 67 No Seat Belt 11 Driving under Suspension
3 No Driver’s License 4 Expired Driver’s License 3 No Insurance
2 Switch Plate 3 Illegal Tint 1 No Driver’s License in Possession Speeding 12
4 Expired MVI 1 No Registration Total Charges: 106
The primary objective during this enforcement campaign is to encourage
residents to comply with laws in an effort to keep them and others that are
out on the roadways safe.
Sheriff Guillory would like to remind the citizens of Evangeline Parish
“seat belts are the single most effective way to prevent death and
injury while driving”.
