Fathers tend to leave notes of encouragement and hope for their sons when they are going through a tough time. One local father, however, is taking a different spin on this approach and is stringing together musical notes of hope for his 19-year-old son who has a brain tumor.

As Americans we are called to give of ourselves and to help our fellow countrymen when they are in need. One Ville Platte native has exemplified this idea from serving in the jungles of Vietnam to serving the Lamb of God as a naval chaplain.

A number of people know the effort that Tim Fontenot has put out for the previous Tee Cotton Bowl and the monstrous renewal game coming up on September 1.

Sales tax collections up for June

This past June was a pretty good month for sales tax collections throughout the parish, with only two municipalities or taxing bodies collecting less sales taxes than they did in June of 2016.

VP Boys and Girl’s Club, Inc. closing banquet set for Friday

The Ville Platte Boys and Girls’ Club has partnered with the Evangeline Parish District Attorney’s Office through the Families in Need of Services Program. Over the last two years, FINS has sponsored 15 children to attend the Boys and Girls’ Club, Inc., and has sponsored mentoring projects.

Searile facing felony charges for cyberstalking incident

In court last Thursday, Rufus Searile’s cyberstalking charge was upgraded from the misdemeanor to two felony grade offenses, which are non-consensual disclosure of a private image and video voyeurism.

Carmen, the former Carmen Smith of Ville Platte, and Everett were married in 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Fr. Joseph Brennan officiated the ceremony.

Man has always been fascinated with science fiction. Part of this fascination is finding little green men from Mars in Grover’s Mill, New Jersey. Chuck Jones fed off of this when he created his popular Marvin the Martian character on Looney Tunes.

EPSO requests assistance in locating missing 3-year-old

MAMOU, LA – The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s assistance in locating a 3 year old female toddler identified as Sophia Marie Sidwell (DOB 6/4/14).
The EPSO Investigative Division released a statement on Tuesday regarding this matter.
