Jamie Fontenot has announced his candidacy for Evangeline Parish Sheriff in the October 2019 election.
His announcement is as follows:
“My decision to campaign for Evangeline Parish Sheriff comes from a strong desire to serve people. I was born and raised in Evangeline Parish and enjoy every part of our culture here.”
“As a child growing up we lived in the rural area of Evangeline Parish working hard to keep up the land and animals. We currently enjoy living on that same land, keeping those childhood memories alive. It’s part of our heritage here in Evangeline Parish. I am married to my wonderful wife Heather Fontenot, who has been an elementary school teacher for over 14 years. We have three children. Our oldest son served in the United States Army. We are also blessed with two grandchildren.”
“I am a member of the Evangeline Chamber of Commerce, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Louisiana, and the Constitutional Sheriff’s and Peace Officers Association.”
“I purchased my first business at the age of 21. I also worked my way into the oil field where I moved from a position at entry level to overseeing budgets of millions of dollars and supervising hundred of men and women. Oil field work gave me the opportunity to attend NACE, which is the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. I finished that program in the top of the class, which included NASA and Army Core of Engineers Personnel. Serving the public for over 22 years.”
“I have also opened other businesses that saved energy on residential homes, commercial buildings, government agencies and the automotive industry.”
“My law enforcement experience consists of working as a Reserve patrolman up to sergeant and training officer. I have worked security details, traffic, drug enforcement, at schools to mentor youth, coordinated with the Louisiana State Police Swat team and street intel divisions, and served on the board of the Eunice Police Reserves.”
“I look forward to building a professional and dedicated law enforcement presence that serves all of the residents of Evangeline Parish.”
