The Basile Police Department responded to a report of a child being struck by a train Wednesday, July 9, at approximately 4 p.m. The incident occurred at the railroad crossing on Magnolia Street in Basile. The Basile police and the fire department responded, along with Acadian Ambulance, who were immediately dispatched to the scene.

City council votes down gift basket ordinance

Vegetables harvested from the community garden, next to the Swamp Pop Museum, were on display at the Ville Platte City Council meeting room during the council’s monthly meeting Tuesday, July 8.
