Unbelievable. Amazing. Gut wrenching. Simply put, WOW! These are only a few words that could possibly describe the quarterfinal playoff marathon between the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Mangham Lady Dragons.
If the Sacred Heart Trojans could have wished for the perfect bi-district playoff game, they probably would have wished for a mistake free game with plenty of offense and hopefully a chance to get some playing time for some of their bench players. Wish granted.
YEAR IN READING - First grade and second grade students in Therese Phillips’ class at James Stephens Montessori School in Ville Platte showed off their stars for their successful year in reading. Students were encouraged to try harder when they saw their progress illustrated on computer generated graphs on the bulletin board in the background. Reading is one of the essentials of early childhood education, and among those having success locally by offering recognition was James Stephens Montessori first and second grade teacher Therese Phillips.
The Magnolia Garden Club recently chose the Garden of the Month and Civic Pride awards for the month of April. The recipient of the Garden of the Month was S.J. “Joe” Guillotte. He is 93 years old and tends his own flower garden plus a huge vegetable garden and citrus orchard behind his home.
